Experimental indie rockers, Wolf Parade have lyrics
that sound like P.I.L. and David Bowie and music that is somewhere
between Queen and the Kinks. The Canadian quartet is full of surprises
with interesting lyrics and deceptively infectious melodies.
Fans of indie music will want to give Wolf Parade a close listen, as
their strangely compelling songs have a way of remaining in your system
like a tattoo or a hangover. Slurred guitars, obnoxious drums, and
pounding bass are accented by multitracked vocals that are somewhere
between moaning and crooning. Wolf Parade's repertoire includes beer
soaked ballads, twisted love songs, and tunes whose meaning is lost in
wonderfully tweaked vocals and a mélange of inventive instrumentation.
If you like unusual; this is it.
