British sextet The Go Team has always been hailed as a
band with an uncanny knack for innovation. With a sound that's
something like a combination of Sesame Street and 70s funk, they have
created a niche all their own and continue to attract attention for
their high energy anthems.
The Go Team's vocals sound like the Partridge Family gone hip-hop
and their instrumentation has the upbeat happiness of the Jackson Five
only messier. Many of their songs are instrumentals with bright guitars
and keys set to wonderfully sloppy drums and samples. Their more
lyrical compositions treat the vocals like a sample or a rhythm
instrument; as something blended into the substratum rather than
blasted over the top.
The dominant element to The Go Team's music is the instrumentation,
and they create bright songs that have the flavor of indie rock, the
bite of hip hop, and the soul of old school R&B. If you're looking
for something different for the stereo or perhaps the soundtrack to a
seventies movie fantasy; The Go Team fits the bill.
