Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrackoriginally formed in 1999 when Justin Pierre (vocals/guitar) and Joshua Cain (guitar) were in high school. The two were fans of Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbox, the Flaming Lips and Superchunk and decided to form a band. Things came together for the band when Matthew Taylor (bass), Jesse Johnson (moog) and Tony Thaxton (drums) joined. Motion City Soundtrack's debut, I Am the Movie, was released in summer 2003. The band's music is layered with rich guitar hooks and small electronics bits. Their fierce musicianship is solid. Motion City Soundtrack's wide variety of musical inspiration sets the band a part from others. The various members have entirely different musical tastes, therefore their music is influenced by techno, lounge, metal, some 80s influence, Steve Albini, Huey Lewis and Elvis Costello, among others.
