Matt Pond PA
Matt Pond PA was formed in Phildelphia by Matt Pond, who grew up in New Hampshire, in the late 90s. Daniel Mitham, who plays the bass; Brian Pearl, a classically trained musician; Dan Crowell and Dana Feder are the other band members. The music can be described as a detour to the typical notion of pop songwriting and music. Their sound has been described as Baroque pop, Rock/Pop, Alternative/Punk and Folk-Rock. Matt Pond PA is a band that definitely tries to create its own style and sound. Being like the mainstream doesn't suit the band. Pond and his extremely talented partners create beautiful, almost lethargic, but strong music that unfolds with delicacy and intimacy. Singer-songwriter, Pond, combines elements of folk and Tindersticks-style Baroque Pop, with lovely string and acoustic guitar parts. He has been compared to Peter Gabriel at his most defenseless.
