Giant Drag
Giant Drag, a tough rock band from L.A, was formed by 24-year-old singer/guitarist Annie Hardy. After writing a few songs, she drafted 27-year-old drummer/keyboardist Micah Calabrese to collaborate with her. The two auditioned several other potential members, but decided to remain a duo. Their self-titled album, Giant Drag, features the singles, "Hearts and Unicorns," "Kevin is Gay" and "Lemona." Though the name of the album may suggest a bore, the music is a real awakening. It is strong, beautiful and filled with emotion. Her lyrics seem to come from personal experience. With "Kevin is Gay," it seems she was speaking of an ex-lover, but that's purely speculation. The album is puts you in the mind of the veteran group, My Bloody Valentine.
