Death Cab For Cutie
From Bellingham, WA, Death Cab for Cutie began with singer/guitarist Ben Gibbard. The underground success of You can Play These Songs' Chords prompted Gibbard to recruit a full-time band. The pop quartet dropped their debut LP Something About Airplanes the summer of 1998. It received critical acclaim from the Indie world. In 2000, the group followed with We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes. Death Cab for Cutie replaced one of its members and in fall of 2000 released the Forbidden Love EP. They released another album called Transatlanticism. While on tour for the album in spring 2004, the group recorded new tracks for their next album, The John Byrd E.P., which was released on Barsuk records in March 2005. The group later signed with Atlantic and released their label debut, Plans in August 2005.
