Known for his "down-South" style, David Banner helped to put Mississippi back on the map, well at least to those who forgot. Banner was also a half of the rap group Crooked Lettaz. But, in 2000, he released his first solo album, "Them Firewater Boyz, Vol.1." Due to his New York based record label's ignorance on marketing his music, Banner took matters in his own hands. With the help of his crew, he sold over 10,000 copies of his first album in his hometown. He emerged nationally in 2003 with a pair of albums, titled "Mississippi: The Album" and "MTA2: Baptized in Dirty Water." From the albums singles such as "Like a Pimp," "Cadillac on 22's," and "Crank It Up" were released. More recently he released "Certified." |
